કડીની મેલડીમાં તરીકે પ્રખ્યાત માતાજી એટલે કડીના મહેલમાં સાતમાં માળે બેસનારા મેલડી માં. રાજા મલ્હાર રાવ નો મહેલ ડોલાવનારા મેલડી માં એ આ જ પ્રખ્યાત મેલડી માં. આ માતાજી કડી નજીક આવેલા જાસલપુર ગામથી આવેલા.
આ એ સમયની વાત છે જ્યારે ગુજરાતનાં કડીમાં મરાઠાઓ નું રાજ કે શાસન ચાલતું હતું. ત્યાં મરાઠી રાજા મલ્હાર રાવ મરાઠી સતત હેઠળ કામ કરતો હતો. અને રાજ્યનું રક્ષણ કરતો હતો. એક વાર એને ખબર પડી કે કડી નજીક આવેલા જાસલપુર ગામમાં એક જૂની વાવ આવેલી છે. અને એ વાવમાં ઉચ્ચ ગુણવત્તા વાળા પથ્થર છે. એટલે, એણે એ પથથરોથી કડી માં પોતાના માટે રહેવા માટે મહેલ બાંધવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.
પરંતુ, આ વાવ માં માં મેલડીના બેસાણા હતા. જાસલપુર ગામના લોકો એમની પૂજા અર્ચના કરતાં હતા. અને નિવેદ જમાડતા હતા.
અને વાવમાંથી પથ્થરો કાઢવાનું કામ શરૂ કરવામાં આવ્યું. પથ્થરો એટલા મોટા હતા કે એના માટે રાજા ને હાથીઓ ને કામે લગાડવા પડ્યા હતા. હાથી પથ્થર લઈને કડીની વાટ પકડી. ત્યાં માતાજી પ્રગટ થયા અને એમાં જે હાથી પથ્થર લઈ જતાં હતા. એ હાથીને માતાજી એ પથ્થર સાથે જમીનમાં ધરબી દીધા. એટલે, એ જગ્યા ઉપર એક ટીંબો બની ગયો. એટલે આજે પણ એ જગ્યા હાથીયા ટીંબા તરીકે ઓળખાય છે.
રાજાએ જેમ તેમ કરીને પથ્થરો કડી લાવી દીધા. અને મહેલ બાંધવાનું કામ શરૂ કરી દેવામાં આવ્યું. પરંતુ, જેવો મહેલ બંધાઈ જાય અને રાજા મહેલ માં રહેવા માટે આવવા નક્કી કરતો એ મહેલ ને માં મેલડી જમીનદોસ્ત કરી નાખતા. આવું અવાર નવાર બન્યું. પછી માતાજી એ છેલ્લે મહેલ બાંધવા દીધો. અને એ મહેલના સાતમા માંળે શ્રી મેલડીમાં એ પોતાના બેસણા કર્યા. હાલપણ લાખોની સંખ્યામાં લોકો અહીં દર્શનાર્થે તથા શ્રધ્ધાળુઓ પોતાની માન્યતા પૂરી કરવા માટે આવતા હોય છે.
એ સિવાય પણ લોકો પગપાળા ચાલતા પણ માન્યતા રાખતા હોય છે.
